    Hi,

My Bosch dishwasher is now constantly causing my water pipes to ‘bang’ when there is a demand for water in.

I have pulled the machine out and ‘halved’ the water tap to no avail, as it seems to be an internal problem, as opposed to plumbing.

Is this the safety switch kicking in that I have read about on other posts?
If so is there anything can I do?

    Thanks,

    SS

Do you get a similar effect when you turn off the cold sink tap?

    Re: Banging Bosch

Only if I rapidly turn it off from 3/4-fully on.

When I turn the dishwasher water supply off and start the machine, only for diagnosis purposes, it seems the pump/valve is turning on/off/on/off in quick succesion.

Oh dear, clearly your water supply pipe is inadequately secured and the water pressure very high. I would advise calling in a local plumber to check your pipes

The dishwasher is not the cause of this phenomenon but rather the result of it in my opinion, its water valve opens and closes fully and not gradually like with your sink tap. Any dodgy or loose pipework in that situation will clang like Big Ben at midnight 🙁

    Re: Banging Bosch

Clipover pipe clips securing pipework to wall/joists could reduce banging. Job for a plumber if you have not done this before!

    Re: Banging Bosch

Thank you all for your advice, there seems to be a common reason for this. I’ll let you know how I get on.

    Have a good weekend,

    Re: Banging Bosch

Hi, I’ve got exactly the same problem with my Bosch. Model is SGS5002GB (seen on steel at top of door when you open it). It’s developed this random banging noise recently…appears to be nothing to do with the water supply to the dishwasher. Pipies everywhere else in the house are ‘silent’. It’s like a cupboard door getting banged closed…weird! Dishwasher seems otherwise unaffected although the little ‘tablet compartment’ release door hing broke off last week but i think this is unrelated as banging noise persists at same level.
Is it maybe the drain pump starting to give up?
    Thanks.

    Re: Banging Bosch

Does it only happen when the machine is filling ? There is an inlet pipe that can get blocked and this causes a back-up of water which can switch the inlet valve on/off . The best way to describe the noise is a ‘kle-dunk kle-dunk kle-dunk’ as the water flows into the tub .
If this seems like it , then check threads on Bosch dishwashers with filling probs – lots of good info in them 🙂

Thanks nomadPaul. I’ll try this remedy tomorrow (on night shifts so a bit ‘wabbit’ just now). I’ll try to follow the other threads you suggested too and will let you know if i’m successful.
    Thanks again!

    Re: Banging Bosch

😯 Despite a total clean-out of filters, etc & removing arms, cleaning them, replacing them & removing and cleaning the inlet and outlet pipes and the wee filter for inlet water pipe it’s only lasted 2 days before the banging comes back again!?
I reckon i may have to live with it…..it’s nearly 9 years old after all so i should be greatful that it’s actually still washing and cleaning the dishes i suppose.

    thanks again, tomba.
