ParticipantGood afternoon all,
Visited the above m/c today, and tested heater unit and temp’ sensor.
Heater unit gave a good Ohms reading, with the sensor around 10,000 Ohms.
This is located on the outer base in an awkward area.
Should I renew both the above as a matter of course, and are there any other temp’ sensors I should be looking at?
The single base sensor is secured in a plastic holder with provision for two sensors.
I also wonder what the paste around the base/sensor area where they touch is a heat sink, or should it be bonded?
Kind regards,
Jon

Have now renewed the heater unit and thermistor…
Unfortunately, the m/c now displays error code E4 upon switching on!
My literature states that this means an overfill problem.
However, there is little/no water in the m/c.
The drain pump kicks in, so assume m/c in safety mode?
I did turn the m/c upside down to remove and renew above components, but there is no good reason for another error code to appear!
Any assistance much appreciated.

Apart from the fact that turning it upside down may have allowed water to flow into places it shouldn’t.

Quite right Sir,
Will return to re-assess.
Wonder if fault will correct itself now back in usual position?
Kind regards,
Jon

Well it is something I would never, ever do but when I have come across customers who have done this it has often led to serious damage. May just have got water into pressure switch if you are very lucky.

E4 is water detected in base.
As the machine has been tipped upside down I would check the operation of the safety float switch to make sure it’s sited correctly. If its out of position the machine thinks its flooded when it isn’t.

Thanks chaps,
Obviously should have leaned machine on its back… not upside down, which I have done before for better access, yet will this not also cause water to enter parts it should not?
Will report back with verdict!

Fine water leak from heater hose, causing E4 error code.
Difficult to locate, but now all well.
