My mother in laws machine appears to work ok. However, after a few days of non-use there is water in the bottom of the machine. It is reasonably ‘clean’ water. At first I wondered if water was coming back into the machine backwards from the pumped outlet. I ran the kitchen tap for quite some time (the dishwasher outlet is connected to the sink outlet just above the U bend) but could see no sign of backfilling. It seems to me then that it must be coming from the incoming mains cold feed – I’m thinking is it making its way slowly past some sort of on/off control feed valve on the input and slowly filling the machine up? It takes about 3/4 days for her to notice that there is water in the bototm of the machine (again) – it comes up to say half way up the lip on the front of the machine where the door hinges.

Making the machine carry out a simple rinse takes the water away, but of course it returns 3/4 days later and the rinse process has to be repeated. Any thoughts most welcome. Regards, yt.

Im not sure what the fault could be, but IMO it sounds like a faulty inlet valve is not closing properly. I might be wrong…

Inlet valve is a good bet. Obvious thing to do is turn the tap to the dishwasher off if it only in occasional use – if the water level rises, it’s back filling; if it doesn’t, it’s the inlet valve.

spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to supply a suitable replacement if required.
