Man I am sick of Baumatic, I have only used the damn dishwasher twice in 18 months.

First time the base filled with water, turned out to be a manufacturing defect (split in internal casing). Baumatic replaced the whole machine and the engineer tested it before leaving.

Last Xmas I gladly used it for the second time and it worked.

Today I went to use it for a third time and it wouldn’t start the cycle.
From rereading the manual the delay timer should show “00” but its not illuminated. I can manually select a delay from 1-24 hours and the digital display remains active but after cycling through to “00” again the display only remains lit briefly then goes out

Apart from that it all seems fine with no error codes but cycle won’t start, although it does sound like a pump runs briefly.

EDIT After trying mumerous times it never fills with water and the last time did eventually come up with an E3 error (although there is no water).

How can I put this to you gently?

If you’d like the occasional use of a dishwasher, please buy one. What you have currently is an Oriental Water Feature. It’s Chinese, from the Midea factory and is utterly, utterly unreliable. Plese don’t waste your money trying to repair it.

E3 on this machine means that it has failed to achieve the selected temperature in the time allowed. The implication is that it has heated without water in, so firstly, it thinks it’s full when it isn’t and secondly, the safety cut-out for the heater circuit will have failed.

Accept defeat, learn, buy something decent.
