Baumatic BDW13 error E1

Get this and its not filling at all (thats what the code says and it isnt!) however the machine isnt taking any water in, the hose isnt kinked and the water supply is on full. Seems like a stop valve isnt opening or is stuck. I do live in a hard water area.

Is there an inlet filter that could be blocked? this happened suddenly so I guess filters dont block up suddenly.

Anything I can do or do I need an engineer?

Water valve failure is quite likely if you are sure that the supply is reaching the machine. With the power off, use a test meter to check the resistance of the solenoid coil on the inlet valve. You should get approximately 3.5-4kOhms reading.
