I have the same problem with this trash dishwasher as everyone else – E3.

I’ve tested the heater element at 30ohms. I have removed one of the two thermostats(?) from the bottom, am I right in thinking I can test these by just connecting the two wires together and bypass them? I’ve tested the continuity of one of them and there is none, even in hot water. I also noticed there is no live wire to this thermostat or the element when running (tested with my volt stick). So I am now thinking the temperature sensor, but where is it?! Is there a way for me to test it before I replace?

Right, I’ve removed both thermostats from the bottom. They’re both marked KSD201 and one has a red dot on the bottom of it. The one without the red dot has a closed circuit when cool and an open circuit when immersed in hot water, which I assume is correct. The one with the red dot has a permanently openish circuit (1600 ohms).

Is this correct? Should I be changing this before the temperature sensor, which I still can’t find by the way!

    Any help would be great.

I also saw the thread about changing the relay on the PCB but that’s my plan C!

Right, got the temperature sensor off (after breaking the plastic bracket as one side was inaccessible), and it reads 10,000 ohms at room temperature, and drops when warmed by hand. This seems lower than another post I saw of 16k.

Could this be my problem? I also noticed I didn’t think there was a good contact between the sensor and the bottom of the dishwasher, although I can’t see how that would stop it heating at all, if anything it would overheat.

I have also just very closely inspected the PCB and can’t see andy dry joints or scorch marks. Running out of ideas now so need some of your expert advice.

There are no recorded values fot the ntc sensor on any Baumatic tech info which I can find. If you’ve got a reading in kOhms on your meter I’d assume it’s OK, especially as it’s falling with heat.

Repeat all tests from the top end of the wiring loom, ie from the pcb – if results are similar, the only culprit is the pcb.

Part number for the pcb is XMIDD1379 – Baumatic is probably your only source of supply and make sure that you get them to send you the mod sheet.

Personally, I wouldn’t do it. It is a Midea-built Chinese dishwasher. Before you know it it’ll be E4’ing at you (leaks), then the circulation pump will pack up. Complete and utter tat.

Great thanks for the info. What about my thermostats – one has a red dot the other not. The one without closes in hot water, the one with the red dot seems to do do nothing in hot water – remains at about 1600 ohms?

if heater is heating and E3 at end of the wash then its the sensing device look throiugh left inspection cover just behind 1/2 load solinoid on wash pump…..slap new sensing devive on with loads of heat sink compound….on all these BDW13 you can check continuity of heating circuit from pcb between pink wire marked htr and whit marked n hope this helps…also dont forget e3 can be caused by stuck wash pump or motor cap failure

Re: Baumatic BDW13 temperature sensor location

I have looked for this sensor (the one in a black plastic cage) and cannot find it. Unfortunately I do not know what a half wash solenoid looks like. Through the left hand hatch I can see a plastic container at the front, about the size of a large beaker (it looks like it is half full of lard!) but there is nothing behind it . Through the right hand hatch is where most of the workings are. I can see the thermostat at the back. Am I going blind? lol My model is definitely the BDW13 and I have the right spare part. I don’t suppose anyone has a service manual for this machine?

Found it. It was hidden by two grey pipes that go around the heat sensor and are then cable tied to the front of the dishwasher. There are also lots of cables that are wrapped around it. Lots of cable ties to snip away before I could get to it.
