ParticipantHello there i have read the advice on dishwashers and was wandering if anyone could help there is nearly always dirty residue left on the pots even after a long wash with plenty of detergant in. We have done all the usual things cleaned the filters, spray arms and i have even done what it suggests in my manual once a month putting a bowl of vinegar in and running a full program. It’s mostly the tall glasses that have residue in the bottom even though we have stacked it correctly and they were not dirty when they went in just used for water etc any help would be much appreciated thankyou 😀

Take the spray arms out and check jets are not blocked.
Don’t use 3 in 1 tablets.

ParticipantThanx i have taken the spray arms out and cleaned them run vinegar and then water through them. I have put a full wash on with vinegar in again this it what my manual recommends. The inside of the glasses have less scum stuck to them but the outside still has some on. I don’t use 3 in 1 tablets i don’t like them! I do use tablets finish original powerball. I use finish rinse aid and finish salt. I tried cheap salt and rinse aid and tablets the results were rubbish. Having read the article on the link Do you recommend then that i use dishwasher powder instead? If so which one? thanx

What program are you using? Low temperatures will not activate the tablets properly. Is the machine heating? Are you using the quick wash?

ParticipantI’m using the longest hottest wash thier is because no other program will wash properly. How do i check that it’s heating properly? open it up in the middle of a wash?

ParticipantPlease can anyone help me the dishwasher is heating the water. Yesterday It didn’t wash anything properly even on the bottom basket. So we opened it up mid wash and the bottom arm was not rotating at all and the top arm was rotating very slowly. it did this every time we tried to put it on. However this morning we were trying to make it work. Trying different programs and turning it on and off about 8 times and all of a sudden it started working so now i have put it on the longest hottest wash to see if it cleans it properly. Anyone have any ides why it is intermittent and why it’s still not washing properly? Thanx

It doesn’t work properly because it’s a cheap and nasty Chinese dishwasher. Yours will have a dodgy circulation pump and probably a sticking variator valve as well (comes with the circulation pump).
Don’t waste your money on it – move on.

ParticipantI’m not going to waste any money on an engineer. my husband is an electrical engineer and is perfectly capable of fixing it. Would just be useful to know what to look at first and if you can get the parts for it. 10s of ponds is better than hundreds of pounds which we don’t have to spend. Would the pump be the best place to start looking?

Strange thing to say, given that the advice given so far is from “the engineers”.
Look, it’s a very poor quality machine. You can shell out the £100 odd to buy a replacement circulation pump, but it isn’t going to make the machine reliable. It will be a constant drain on your resources to keep it running. If, like so many of us these days, budget is an issue, I’d get the Marigolds out for a couple of months and save up for (non-Chinese) replacement.
Your call, of course.

Participantjust an update on this post. I know it was a while ago. My husband had a look at it and in the top rack there is a small ball that closes off whichever pipe is not in use dependant on the height of the rack. Around the ball in the pipe the plastic had melted and the ball wasn’t able to close the pipe properly so my husband took the melted plastic off and it cleaned properly then! Just wanted to post this incase it helps someone else. Now it’s completly had it though it trips out mid cycle and will not come back on for 24 hours. Doesn’t trip the main trip in the house just in the dishwasher. My husband had it to pieces and everything is working fine. so we have come to the conclusion that it must be the main board which i know is not worth replacing. So we are looking for a replacement dishwasher Don have you got any ideas. We want a fully intergrated dishwasher. We were looking at a fagor as it has 5 year full warranty on. No one on the forums have spoke much about this make is it because it is bad?! we don’t have much money so our budget is £3-400 I have found a fagor for £410 including delivery. Thanx for your help

Hi there,
I sell Fagor products and repair them, in my opinion they are good value for money considering the 5 year warranty but others may have a different view, I’ve had no issues with any of the ones I have supplied and installed and technical support is very good from Fagor.
Hope this helps 😀
