KeymasterFollowing a dramatic bang, sparks and smoke the oven “died”.
On examination the circular oven element had blown, and the tiny sensor/thermostat/limiter device had burnt out (source of the firework display). The fan seems to work ok. and I can get hold of a new element easily enough but the sensor is a problem. Baumatic themselves can’t supply one for over a week, and it will apparently cost around £23! So does anyone know where I can get hold of one immediately, and maybe at a more sensible price? It is a Campini TY60 and has the following details on it:
10/230-11
18/250-1
T180I suspect other manufacturers may use the same device.
If I have to wait for the delivery from Baumatic I suppose it is not the end of the world but hopefully somewhere there is one readily available that I can get hold of. I don’t fancy living on take-aways and stir-frys for a couple of weeks!!
Thanks in adavnce for any suggestions,
Alan

KeymasterHi Alan,
I’m afraid you’re probably going to be stuck with waiting, sorry.

Can you find out (if you don’t already have it) the part number that Baumatic use for that part Alan ?
I’m assuming it’s the thermal safety device for the oven, but I don’t have it listed.
I may be able to help with this if you can supply that info.
Dave.

ParticipantIf the safety stat’s gone, and the heater’s gone doesn’t this point to a serious overheat problem? I’d get the thermostat checked as part of the repair.

Smeg want £46.72 for this part. It not worth more than say £2 or so. Does anyone know where else I can get it from?
Thanks.

The Baumatic and the Smeg one are highly unlikely to be the same part.
Campini are merely the manufacturer of the thermostat, it just so happens they are fitted to various cookers.
The important thing here is the temperature as they are safety stats and critical.
It would appear from Alan’s post that the Baumatic one is 180 C but I’m not sure on the Smeg one.
Patrick, can you post the Smeg model number please.
Dave.

Smeg SE 250 X Oven.
The thermostat says:
Campini Ty60
10/250~
16/250~
T210and….
26-99
190 Degrees C
Apparently these kind of t-stats are also commonly used in Rancilio Espresso machines.According to Smeg’s spares dept the part number is 818730401.
Does anyone know where to get a fair price?

ParticipantRe: Baumatic BT904 built in double oven
So, essentially it’s a 190 C normally closed 16amp thermostat.
I’ll see what I can come up with 😉
Oh, and the price Smeg quoted you is correct for that part number 😯 ludicrous !

Sorry, I meant to post about this the other day, all I can find from the usual suspects are 10A one’s which aren’t suitable, especially on a double oven.
I’m Googling furiously right now 😉

Dave the last Baumatic I saw looked suspicously like a whirlpool
might be worth a punt ?

Tried that now Lawrence, nothing.
The trouble is, most of the manufacturers don’t give the spec of the cut-out on the spares lists, only the part number so it’s pot-luck on whether the temperatre is correct.
All of them are much the same, but as this is a safety device, it has to be correct.
I have managed to locate the Campini website and also Klixon who make the same type of cut-outs.
They won’t sell in singles though as they are factory level. My next step is to ask them both for a UK supplier of these parts.
Now I’m on a mission………… 😀
