Baumatic BTD1 – Only partly heating

Hi, and just in time for Christmas things start to go Belly-Up!!!

Well, hopefully this is straightforward (God knows I could do with a bit of luck!) The dryer has been running poorly recently, well for the past couple of days anyway, of not longer and simply unnoticed by the rest of the household who think this place is a guest house … but that’s another subject, back to business.

I’ve just tried the machine on the ‘half-cycle’, ie half-a-sun setting and there is no heat at all. The full-fat cycle, ie ‘full sun’ is running, but isn’t as hot as expected. My limited brain suggests that there are 2 elements at the back of the machine and that mine is currently running with only 1 working. Does this sound right? In your experience is there any other problem I might look at before ripping one out and replacing it? And finally, at 8.25am with only 3 shopping days to Christmas, and tumble dryer elements not one EVERYONE’s list to Santa and postal delays likely to cause my good lady wife apoplexy as washing builds up in the meantime, is this an item I should be able to pick up easily enough? My old favourite shop, Burrough’s of Holt Road, Liverpool fell victim to the redeveloper so I’m in the hands of the untested as far as the rest of the shops in town go.

Any help gratefully received, and at the risk of sounding cheeky, the sooner the better for the sake of my sanity and a peaceful Christmas!!!!
