    Hi all.

I have a Baumatic 90cm range cooker, similar to the 2770, and the main oven door no longer stays shut. It just won’t create a tight seal and can be up to 1 cm loose at the top. There is still some spring resistance, there’s just not enough power to complete close the door.

I assume I need another spring, but I’m not sure it even has springs, it maybe some mechanism built into the bottom of the door.

In short, I want my door to stay shut and it no longer does. Is this something easily sorted, possibly by me, or am I going to need a new door?

    Thanks

    Joe.

The springs are built in to the hinges so you will need to replace both of them.

Have a look in Shop@ and if you can’t find them then an email to Dave_Conway will sort it. You will need to provide all the relevant model/serial numbers to obtain the correct parts.

As far as replacing them goes it is straightforward….door off and disassemble.
If it’s beyond your expertise then click the link below to find an engineer local to you.

Thankyou, I’ll do that. I’m quite handy around the house so I should be able to get the door off. However, how it comes off is another story. My model is infact a 2750. There is some suggestion that it is a matter of just putting two screws between the door and the hinge and slightly closing the door and then pulling it off.

    Does that sound familiar?

That sounds like it’s bound to end in tears!

I’m not familiar with that particular hinge but most have a built in locking device…have a look at your user manual which will explain how they operate.

If there is no locking mechanism then they can be a pig, there is also a danger of the spring tension releasing suddenly during removal so if this is the case i would strongly advise calling an engineer :lesson:

Thanks, and you’re right, it often ends in tears!!

The door has been off before, by an engineer, but the missus was in, not me. So, as you might expect, rather than watching the engineer and being interested in what he was doing, the mind just went blank and was probably at the shops. Sound familiar?

Anyway, all that can be remembered is the door came off quickly and easily. I’ll checkout the manual ( I keep ’em all ).

Thanks again for the prompt input. Just waiting Dave about the parts.
