Hi there Hey there Ho there

My 2 yr old Baumatic gas hob has taken to firing its piezo–all four of them–constantly now. It was only one or another, and was told it must be wet, but it dried and did abate temporarily, then returned and has increased….they all do it now! Its incessant, continuing to fire all the time….even thought it may stop if I just let it ride out but it continued over a weekend! 😯 And I cannot have the electric oven on without hearing that incessant clickclickclick!

What can I do?! Any and all advice gratefully received.
    Many thanks
    Alex

Take the power off it for a start. 😉

Sounds as if the ignition unit is goosed and that will need replacing.

ummm, yea. no joke. of course turn the darned thing off. have had to, except when the oven needs to be on.

is the ‘ignition unit’ something I can replace myself? where is it located exactly? I have tried to lift the hob off the counter top but to no avail. is there some helpful trick to doing that?

    more please…

    huge THANKS

Please stop – the hob top will be retained by clips underneath and should be connected to the gas by rigid pipework. Lift it at your peril…….

The ignition unit will be within the hob body, but you must get the work carried out by a CORGI engineer.
