Hi, I’ve had a search and couldn’t find anything on this subject.

My Baumatic cooker hood fan only seems to run at one speed no matter which of the three buttons I press. Is this correct (I can’t imagine it’s designed to do this) and if it’s not do you have any idea how to remedy it?

Many thanks for any advice 🙂

No, it should run at different speeds.

Either the switch or the motor is likely faulty but I am not familiar with the model at all.

    Is it new?

It could be the installation as the motors are not very strong and back pressure will prevent increase in speed.

    If it’s not new.

Pcb likely fault, it was a regular fault, or see above as vent could be blocked.

It’s not new, but the fault was from new (it’s my mother’s and she’s only just told me, didn’t want to trouble the installer). The fan seems to go at max speed with any of the buttons pressed, so it’s not back pressure. Sounds like it could be the PCB, I bet it’d be cheaper to replace the whole thing lol

Thanks for the replies guys 🙂

Remove the four screw holding the motor in place and running it with no restrictions you should hear the motor speed increase/decrease. The switch just send power to the 3 windings within the motor, it’s not an expensive part.

If the motor does increase/decrease the fault is in the installation. If not you may find a poor solder joint on the switch.
