    Hi,
I have a Baumatic model 90 ST cooker hood with lights which keep switching off for no reason. I have taken the switch bank out, resoldered some dodgy switch joints, cleaned the grease of, but the fault still occurs.
It seems to occur when the lights have been left on for a while, say an hour, which is not much when you’re cooking. I assume a thermal trip is cutting the power so I would like to replace. Any ideas if this is the cause and if so where will I locate the thermal trip.
    Regards and Thanks Tony

cant find any trace of that model no so cant be sure

    but

what sort of lights does this unit have. if they are halogen make sure you have not uprated lamps by accident as if you overload the power supplies it will trip out. somewhere on the unit it will give the maximum lamp size

    Dave,

They are 12v halogens, unfortunately the model number and spec details seem to have been wiped off, hence my guess at the model number. if I have the wrong spec bulbs can you advise what ones I should have.

    Many thanks

    Dave,

My hood is very similar to the Model: BT10.3GL but I suspect older. The 2 lamps run down the middle of the filters back to front and they are 12v diochoric lamps.

    Hi

In that case they are 12v 20w G4 halogen capsules as in the attached. Like all halogen bulbs make sure you do not touch the glass with your fingers when fitting them.

    Re: Baumatic Hood Light Issue

    Don,

The bulbs are GU5.3 bulbs and I suspect I may have too higher wattage bulbs, that get too hot and shut down, so I will check and ensure I have 20w bulbs or the energy saving ones at 6w.

    Thanks and regards

    Tony
