ParticipantWashing machine stopped mid cycle, the indicator light remained on. I’ve tried all of the other programmes but nothing is working. Just cleaned out the filter – nothing much there. Any ideas where I start?

Baumatic is a bit of a black hole on UKW really. Need to know who makes that one. Dead machine means checking the usual, door interlock etc. If its a Merloni clone then suspect the module.

Thanks for that.
Does this mean that all Baumatic’s are clones? If so does anyone know how I go about identifying the original maker?

Ok. I’ve done a bit of checking and can find nothing visually wrong with the m/c. Thought I might start with the door switch – I’ve removed the door switch (power off plug removed) which is a Metaflex Tip ZV – 445. Can someone tell me how I go about testing it? I have a electronic meter handy but am not sure exactly wat I should be looking for.

OK – there are 3 terminals on the interlock. They are a live feed, a neutral to the other end of the heater device, and a switched output. So – you should get a high reading in Kohms across two terminals, and nothing to the third (unless it’s switched, in which case, you should get damn near zero resistance).
Basic problem here is that the machine is a bought in, badged appliance. The market is flooded with them, from various sources and some providers just don’t help us with what the machine actually is. If you could post a full frontal (Ooh, err!) piccie of the machine, it would help enormously.
Duplicate post deleted – the Mods and Site Admin read everything.

See photo – full frontal – not much of a ‘looker’ I’m afraid.
I carried out the tests on the interlock and yes I had a high Kohms reading across two of the terminals and a zero on what I assume must be the switch. So I guess that means the unit is ok. Any idea what I might try next?

Ok, thanks for the piccie. The machine is made by Merloni for Baumatic, so yes, it’s a badge job. The standard fault on these is usually the electronic board in the back of the machine. However, one of the few “direct” functions of the timer is to activate the door lock. If the door doesn’t lock, it will almost certainly be the interlock playing up. If the door locks and nothing else happens, it will be the computer board.

Thanks for the information. I had another look at the interlock – put it back on and switched on the power – the door wouldn’t open – waited a few minutes and then it did so I assume that part ot the unit is working – nothing else worked.
I tried a test across what should be the switch in this case the live and common and then pushed the metal plate in – emulating what the door latch would do – I should get a circuit? I tried this and didn’t. Does this mean that the switch has just broken down or is there some fault in my reasoning?
Assuming the interlock to be fine and my reasoning all to pot, is there any simple way I can test the circuit board?

Changed printed circuit board and the washer sprang back into life. Missus happy me happy cat happy all is well with the world…until an hour later when we discover the cycle finished and the drum 1/3 full of soapy water!!
The unit was purchased via the internet from QER who I now realise recondition units rather than supply new ones – nothing wrong with that provided the units work – I guess I should suspect the unit as faulty but it seems to me like it ought to be a program error but then I don’t understand the relation ship between the two units.
My question is: is it possible that the original damaged circuit board somehow damaged the programmer too?

I’m reasonably sure that the new printed circuit board is ok but am still having problems with the spin cycle. The machine will now go through the wash cycle without any problem but when it comes to the spin cycle – or even if it is moved onto a spin cycle it only spins for a very short time – it does a lot of cycling slowly clockwise/anticlockwise. Anyone got any ideas what the problem may be.

I would carefully examine the motor, maybe just the brushes are worn?
