Participanthi fokes hope you are all well , got a red scratcher here . customer said burning food and temp light doesnt go out . looked on connect ,obsolete . so went and fitted a hotpoint/whirpool one fitted fine .. , but when i turn knob to oven ,the oven starts heating up and temp light comes on without turning the temp knob to anything .. if i turn the temp on thermostat down i can hear it clicking . but does not turn the temp light off or stop oven heating to full blast :confused:weird .. do the baumatic thermostats work a different way ?i brains fried . or is it a faulty new stat ?or it something like a over heat stat or something ? tried the 2 wires on both side of the thermostat still the same ? help 🙁

Moderatorok try something
take one wire off the stat and see what happens as it should not heat. that will prove the circuit. you could do it with a multimeter to save turning it on
according to one of my sources it transposes to part no 49107216
connect have it for a mere £73 plus vat (ouch)
some stats close the contacts in the off postion to allow the grill to work again you cab check with a meter
Dave
ps have emailed you the wiring diagram as it will be easier to see than on here

Moderatorwell that proves the age of the house wiring as any modern system would blow the RCD
