Before going any further with the bearings, you have to establish what is throwing the RCD. Most likely candidate is a shorting motor armature – you will need an electrical insulation test meter to confirm this. The armature is still available as a separate part. (only as pattern). Hotpoint themselves only supply complete motors now. They are not cheap.
You now have to consider the viability of this job. How good is the rest of the machine? Is the drum shaft in excellent condition? How much has the machine been used in it’s life?
True, the WM31’s build quality was of a much higher standard than that of a new Hotpoint. (AKA Indesit).
BUT…. now you could need – bearings, drum shaft, motor armature and new brushes to effect a good long lasting repair. At the least you may be able to save the shaft: but it must be in perfect order – ie. no scratches, rust or score marks especially on the brass seal ferrule. If the bearings have broken up, replace the shaft. It is false economy no to.
Complete bearings can be drifted out with a hammer and solid bar – if they are broken up, a special tool is available to remove the outer race. (priced at £100 + , 8O).
Consider the above before buying ANY spares, or click ‘Repairs@’ on the homepage for an engineer in your area.

    Hope that helps!!!

Drum not removed. Pulley and locknut off.

Does the bearing for this come in 3 bits.

Problem with rcd tripping may have been due to loose plug and spin
    tripping rcd.

    Hi

The inner drum has to be removed to access the bearings and seal

If the bearings are really bad then the heater may be damaged causing the RCD to trip. There are two bearings, front & rear, if you have more than two pieces then the machine may already be BER.
