ParticipantHave above machine -horible noise yesterday- suspected bearing failure. Looked on this site and read up on how to strip down – as promised was a bit of a pig but have done it. Need new bearings/seal and Spider – have seen all necessary info to purchase on site. However, have not seen anything regarding the metal sleeve within the drum body which houses the outer races of the bearings. This is also trashed and needs replacing. Can this be removed/replaced or is it a new section of drum body? Any advice appreciated

It’s a complete rear tub replacement I’m afraid (which comes with the bearings).
I’ll need the product code to identify though as there are 2 version, this will be on the rating plate inside the door and begin 9147……….

Again, thanks for prompt response
Based on your replies am I right in assuming I need to buy
1 The rear tub unit which you said will come with bearings (does this include seal ?)
2 The spider unit
3 The seal for re-joining the two halves of the tub back togetherHave I missed anything else? My view was that if I can mend for less than £100 I will procede otherwise I am looking at a new machine – this looks just about within this?
Also, is their any significant delivery on the tub? The pile of washing is already beginning to build upApril 24, 2006 at 12:46 pm #173778Dave_Conway
ParticipantRe: Bearing Replacement -Zanussi FLA 1001W
Yes, you need all three (the tub comes with the bearing seal), the total inc VAT and carriage would be £117.82.
No issue on delivery time of the tub, 3-4 days from order 🙂

Closure on this thread?
All parts delivered on Thursday
Fitted on Friday
Washer working silently and hopefully as good as new
Very impressed with website and delivery service
Two points for anyone reading this
1)This not a trivial task-I don’t think I would recommend to someone who doesn’t have a mechanical fitting background
2)Based on my experience it is probably worthwhile ordering replacement screws for connecting the spider to the drum -the ones on my machine were difficult to remove with one requiring stilsons – I would ideally have liked to have fitted new ones.
Again -thanks to Dave Conway et al – I will be back when something else goes wrongApril 30, 2006 at 2:00 pm #173780Dave_Conway
