Re: Bearings and seal info needed
Thanks for the reply Bazza. Customer asked me to open it up anyway to see if I could ‘patch it up’ as she’ll leave it when she moves abroad later in year, she had no warranty left on it.
Actually managed to have the inner drum sitting on the floor within a half hour as you can leave the rear half of the outer tub in situ.
6207 and 6305 bearings I had to hand but weird seal I did not.
Very corroded spider arms but the seal bush was clean.
She agreed to a ‘no guarantees’ bodge so I put a smaller spring on the existing seal, which did make it grip the shaft ok 🙂 ,cleaned everything up, coated with grease, popped new bearings in and threw it back together 8)
The whole thing took less than 2 hours including a cuppa, but there’s certainly a lot of stuff to move out of the way.
Would much rather have done it properly if a bearing and spider kit was available but I certainly couldn’t find anyone selling one and drums are silly money for these machines.
Anyway, was sounding good as new when I left 🙂
Eddie.
