Bearings replacement on a Bosch WVT126SGB/01

Hi

I havent replaced bearings before but my mother has a washer/dryer
WVT126SGB/01 that is becoming very noisy on spin.

How easy is it to change the bearings on this machine?

I can only see the complete spider and bearings assembly listed on the
internet which seems to be equivalent to an older model spider assembly
WFB2405GB/33 and cough £150!

I can obtain a bearing kit for the WFB2405GB/33 however

Is it reasonably easy to fit the bearing kit into the spider assembly or is
a lot of grief to be expected?

Changing the bearings in the machines with the rear spider is not normally that bad but I would wait until someone can confirm that the bearings you have identified will actually fit your machine.

My research has found the following links….which I use purely to ask the question.

Will the bearing set Bosch part 283725 fit?

Listed spider and bearing

Go to http://www.bosch.co.uk . From there you can navigate to the “eshop” for spare parts info for any model you like. It takes a bit of time to figure out the navigation but you get exploded diagrams for all machines and you should be able to work out if parts are the same.
Actually, I just had a look and the right cross for your WVT is 283726.
Check this, as I only did a quick search. BS05109 in shop@

Yes I have had a good look on the Bosch support site and the spider part number 283726 is equivalent across the WFB/WVT and WVD model ranges.
So it must be the same spider- so then it follows same bearings?

Do Bosch do this on purpose as the bearings are not listed seperately for these machines?
Are they forcing you to buy the whole assembly including the bearings,why arent the bearings available seperately?

Is there a reason for this?

For example are they impossible to get out or is just for profit?

The primary reason is that the machine ISN’T A BOSCH but a re-badged machine (Siltal I think…could be corrected in sort order on that though?). Therefore Bosch supply just the spider/bearing unit as an assembly.

The bearing kits that suit are pattern equivalents available separately and sourced somewhere in darkest Europe. They fit that model and other Bosch machines and various other makes with obscure brand names.

No. Quite easy. The difficult bit is getting the bearing cross out and back in again. And you need to be careful not to damage the new bearings when inserting them. You’d do well to get some help on that if you’ve never done anything like it. Maybe the Haynes washing machine manual or some searching online about fitting bearings in general. Make sure the drum shaft is undamaged before you invest in the new bearings. Especially the brass ring on which the water seal runs.

Just to revive this thread I did eventually manage to change the bearings.

Apologies for the long post but it has been a bit of saga for me.

This was a lot of work as on the first strip down I didnt grease the underside of the bearing seal and shaft properly which turned the beast into a squeeking thing.

So had to spend another afternoon and do it again!

Also had problems getting the retaining circlip of/on at the end of the drum
shaft and the pulley was also a bit of a swine -certainly a learning experience for me and wouldnt want to do this everyday!

The bearings themselves were relatively easy -I did use a bit of heat and also put them in the freezer-they more or less dropped straight in and didnt require too much force in/out so I was probably lucky with this part!

Anyway its now been working well again but now I have another problem which seems to be linked to the dryer element.

If the dryer element is connected then as soon as the selector switch moves to any program option the mains trip.

I have systematically troubleshooted the machine by disconnecting each of the main components ie pump/motor/wm element etc
I also have megger which shows I have a short to earth on the dryer element circuit.

I have also taken the lid of the housing and the element looks as good as new…..it also shows good resistance….so I am baffled!

At the moment I have isolated the element and the machine is in use in wash only mode but would like to get it fully functional if I can.

I would welcome any advice as I a loathe to spend another £50 on an element that I a not convinced is faulty in the first place…..
