Participantmy main oven turns off after just 3 minutes on full temp. i thought it was the thermastat so changed that but didnt fix the problem.
when the oven stops working the inside light, the temp light on the outside, fan and heat element all turn of but doesnt trip the mains, blow any fuses and the rest of the cooker caries on working fine. the element shows its working and does warm up the oven to about 75 degrees. i did contiunity test of the element which came back as working fine.
any ideas on the problem and how to test.October 5, 2016 at 1:59 pm #441534kwatt

Sounds like a cooling fan or cooling fan control stat problem.

thanks kwatt for the reply.
is the control stat the same as Bimetal Thermostat as cant seem to find any parts?
if its a cooling fan problem would disconnecting it and running the oven make the oven keep working till the correct temp just to test?October 6, 2016 at 7:47 am #441536kwatt

There’s usually a cooling fan control stat and a safety stat.
Explanation here: http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/spar … hermostats
If you disconnect the cooling fan motor it’ll get hot, fast. Possibly damage other stuff and cut out on the safety stat.

ok so after reading the link i got even more lost.
i have had a look at the cooker found what looks like the safty temp cut of. did continuity with the cooker cold shows open then when the coooker had warmed up and turned it of and showed closed circuit which would sugest to me that it was over heated and cut out.
i have added attchments of what my cooker looks like and the part i think is the cut off switch.October 6, 2016 at 9:13 am #441538kwatt

Usually the cooling fan stat will be open, closes when hot.
Safety will be closed, opens when overheats.
No clue what they look like, it’s a generic parts drawing I’d be looking at.

The safety stat in it is this one:
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/2634100 … thermostat
And on that model, it says there’s two of them used.

its a double oven so would make sence theres 1 per oven.
that is what i found and tested and added pictures of. this was open when the oven was cold and closed when the oven was hot and turned itself off
my meter shows 1. when the porbes arnt connected to anything and 000 if they touch each other. so i class 1. as open and 000 as closed.
by the sounds of things the switch is working correctly or am i wrongOctober 6, 2016 at 7:16 pm #441542kwatt

I’d need to dig, the drawing’s a split so it’s a bit of a ‘mare to find things but, I can’t see a cooling fan stat shown which is possible if the fan is wired to the switch/es and just comes on and off from there.
That being the case, have you looked at the switches for any damage?

never noticed any when i was checking the thermostats. i did however find that the main oven showed no continuity until the switch was turned on which would show the thermostat was working fine, now when i checked the top oven/grill that showed as closed when it was turned off but when disconnecting the wires showed as open and closed when turned on.but that being said the top oven/grill works fine

after checking all wires and connections there isnt anything wrong. after checking the cooker turns of at the same temp every time which is about 80 degrees and you can hear the click of the thermostat when turning the dial before and after 80 degrees
