My daughter moved into a house and the fridge freezer was left behind. It works ok, but it needs to be set to max on the dial to achieve 6deg in the fridge. The freezer seems to be ok temperature wise.
The compressor is working hard (on permanently) to maintain this temperature. The fan in front of the evaporator is working, I’ve measured the resistance of the sensor tie wrapped on the evaporator pipe and this changes with heat applied, the pot behind the dial changes resistance when adjusted. I haven’t checked the sensor embedded in the foam insulation behind the fridge yet, I don’t want to dig it out unnecessarily. Door seals look good however there is a small puncture in the freezer moulding behind one of the drawers, 3mm approx.
can anyone advise what it may be causing this overworked compressor to achieve barely an acceptable temperature? I’m thinking gas but could be totally wrong?? Any advice will be gratefully received.
