Participantalso ice on floor of freezer which I’d normally associate with a blocked drain or defective gutter heater, however the gutter was clear of ice.
All defrost components have continuity.
The fan seems ok with no radial play and axial play as expected.
Control board looked ok and there were no lose connections.
My guess is control board of fan motor. Has anyone else come across similar fault with this model?
Thanks, Dez

there are 3 of these units with similar models but since you are mentioned a circuit board i would guess yours is CDA660FW
from the picture of the board there is a capacitor ( big blue block). this will provide the power to the board. change that first and see what happens cheap fix if it works and you cant loose a lot if it does not
from the picture looks like a 1uF
look in trade forum in the stickies at the top for pcb fixes its well documents by me and others
hope it helps

if you want the wiring diag, for what its worth, let me know but check full model no first

Hi Dave, I’d really appreciate wiring diag. It’s a CDA660F. I also suspected the defrost timer but I can’t find it anywhere on the appliance – I paid particular attention to the space behind, where the compressor is housed. Is it possible that on some models, the defrost timer is built into the pcb and not a separate part as shown on parts lists?
Thanks for your help

unfortunatly there are 3
1 CDA660 FS 7511620008
2 CDA660 FS 7511620010
3 CDA660 FW 7511620009since 1 and 2 dont have electronic panel will send you diag no 3

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the diags – v helpful. I see that the compressor and fan have a common feed from the PCB and that there are (as I expected) no switches in series with the fan. Assuming the wiring diag isn’t too over simplified then this implies that the fan should always operate if the compressor is running (or trying to). Assuming no faulty connections or breaks in the cable to the fan, would you say this a correct assumption?

i would say you are correct as there is no point haveing a fan running 24 hours a day it would make sense to switch it in with the compressor. you could do a continuity test to proove it
but my money would still be on the poss board capacitor
