Moderatorif the compressor is running its either a lack of gas problem or a failed compressor
time to replace it i would say

Participantthanks for reply. I was hoping that wouldn’t be the case it does get to -17 then warms up again if this changes things i dont know

Moderatorwell maybe
your original post did not say that. So the compressor is probably ok. You gave the impression the compressor was running but it was not freezingso it get down to -17, then the compressor switches off ( Y , N ?) and then warms up, does it come on again at any point after that if it has switched off

Participantthe freezer is not getting cold enough to freeze some things is what I was meant to write. The freezer feezed a cup of water in top tray but thawed out frozen fruit .The freezer is on 0.5c atm and fridge 15c which it seems to always be at there is a bit of condensation on fridge walls.I have not noticed the compressor turn off tbh but will keep a look out for that.
Many thanks for your help

Moderatori think there is a fan in the freezer that moves the air around. may ony run with door closed and stop when its opened
is it running. if not the air will use convection currents which doesnt work too well

Moderatorwell am assuming its not iced up behind the rear panel because you stated that so
the fan runs, so if the compressor is running, and the refrigeration side of things is ok, it should freeze. what your saying is it doesnt but you did say it got to -17. A bit confused now unless the compressor stops and wont re-start. in which case we are looking at possible sensor or board problems
keep an eye on it. see if compressor runs. if its running and fan ok and no ice blocks then it should freeze
