ParticipantHi, our BEKO DIN26X20 dishwasher is only 2 and a half years old. Perfect for our regular use on the 30 minute cycle. In the last 12 months some of the P numbers stopped showing on the display – but we know where our preferred cycle is. It still runs perfectly. More recently it has done a long cycle despite being set for the short one. It has repeated this trick a few times, but behaved properly in between. Yesterday I closed the door accidentally and it started running, though it was off. This has never happened before. By off, I mean the power button was off – but the machine was plugged into the live power socket as usual. Opening the door quickly stopped it and it did not repeat later. Last night it behaved perfectly on the 30-minute cycle (though the P5 number doesn’t show on the display as usual).
I’m guessing the control card is the culprit. Your website has it in stock at £50.95.
I have read and agree with your caveats about understanding competence levels, however I still need to ask – is this something an electrically-competent lay-person could replace, or is it really, really a qualified engineer job? Second question is – would replacing the card do much good or is this a common fault? I only see one post about it here, but the fact that you stock the item indicates that it fails.
We do love this machine and it is fab, but this ‘altzheimers-type’ tendency is a bit of a worry. Advice would be appreciated.December 19, 2018 at 9:07 pm #459618electrofix
Moderatorits should be just a straight swop. part should be pre configured so its just a case of removing it and getting all the wires back in the correct place
As for whether it will cure it short answer is don’t know. from what you say it does sound like the most likely answer but in our job we get surprised on a regular basis

ParticipantThanks Dave, for your helpful and fair answer. Not sure yet how I’m going to proceed, but it is a help.

ParticipantFollow-up for anyone reading – frustratingly, the next day the thing stopped working entirely – showing an E01 code. There was no blockage, so likely a permanent fault. No time to get the control unit delivered before Christmas, (the one time we really need it!) so I bought a new machine rather than wait and risk it still being something else. Not very happy about it packing up after only 2.5 years. The lesson is not to ignore little failures/quirks, but to get them seen to inside the warranty period if at all possible.
