    Plastic top popped off it, leakage around bottom, plastic connectors black from burning.
    Symptoms were electric tripping, loud popping/crackling from dryer.
    My question is do these go on there own or could something have caused it to defect this way. Don’t want to stick another on and the same thing happen again!

    They just pop. Fit a replacement and it’ll be fine.

    Was it mains filter & or capacitor for motor that popped ?

    Think it’s just mains filter better check the motor capacitor as well had I??

    Yep thats mains filter, not had many of them go, had dozens of motor caps’ blow out though. Motor capacitor is located mounted at motor, access via small aperture at rear where hose connects to.

    Will check it out but if the drums rotating ok I guess the motor capacitor should be ok. Anything else that cause the filter to pop
