My Beko tumble drier went bang earlier today and then I could smell a smoke like smell. I quickly switched it off, pulled the plug and pulled out my washing.
The outside of the drier was very hot, and there was a lot of steam coming off the washing – not sure if normal.
I havent used it for a full load for several months, just the occasional bit of school uniform forgotten to dry.
I always clean the filter which is just inside the door, and empty the water tray as and when, but usually before each load.
I wash the condenser unit not that often, but it was cleaned a month or so ago when I noticed it was taking a while to dry clothes.
Weve taken the back off and there are no signs of anything burnt. No scorch marks or even smell of burning.
Is it likely to be the pcb? This model is newer than the recalled ones so wasnt recalled, but from I have read after a quick search there have been a few cases of these actually catching fire and destroying homes!
I am now too scared to use the thing, and will be looking for a new one. I just wanted to see what people though on here. Is it something to fix, or for safetys sake, just buy a new one. Many thanks!
