BEKO DW450 Dishwasher – Tripping RCD

Beko DW450 tripped the RCD mid cycle. (half inch of water in bottom still)

RCS would not reset while the dishwasher was still plugged in.

Unplugged dishwasher and RCD reset ok.

Re-plugged dishwasher in, turned dishwasher back on via the control panel button which fully lights up as normal and after 5 to 10 secs max RCD trips again.

No external leaks. Machine is 9 years old. No previous issues.

Does anyone know if this model has any common things i should check first ? (taking into account i have no engineer experience but have no objections taking something apart)

Failing that, would it be more cost effective to just replace with a new one ?

    Thank you in advance.

first thing is to take one of the lower covers off and see if you have any signs of water in the base. That’s underneath where the motor and all the works are.

if no water the most likely component to cause it is the heater but that would need confirming in case you changed it for no reason

ok – so i have just had a look at it now, first i plugged it back in on the off chance to try and start the drain cycle and its not tripped the electric, so i have just selected the no heat programme (thinking if heater matrix is at fault) and its started the cycle and being running for 10 mins now –

Ideally i wanted to enable a manual drain programe or test programme but didnt have this to hand so thought the no heat option may of been best.

I guess once this has finished the cycle i have 2 things to try – First is to find out what i need to press to enable it to do drain only. Then try it on a cycle with temp and take it from there.

So it finished its cycle with no heat as per normal no issue.

I selected the 30’c temp programme and its completed the programme as per normal too..

When it cut out this afternoon, it was running on the hottest setting, i maybe completely wrong here, but is it possible for the steam to ingress into maybe the control panel causing it to short ? i only say this becausesometimes there’s a bit of condensation around the top of the door.

    thank you

Hello – 2 months on without an issue, today its tripped the RCD 3 times to point now where if its just turned on its tripping it again.

At present theres about 2 inch of water in the bottom, im hoping what ever is causing it drys out over night so i can start a wash which will at least do a drain before starting the cycle to save me having to start scooping the water out of it.

im at the point now thinking is it worth ringing someone to come and fix it or buy a new one for around £200….. Would anyone be able to share any rough estimates on what a worst case scenario cost would be to repair (West Yorkshire ) if i called someone out to fix it ?

im thinking it does not make sense to pay more than 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}-50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} max of the cost of a new one on a 9 year old machine… welcome anyone experience / thoughts.?

    Thank you
