Beko DWD 410w- fills, drains but doesn’t wash

Hi, Hope someone can assist. D/washer fills up and powder compartment flicks open, but doesn’t run beyond that. Noise is a whine and then a thumping with some vibration through the machine. It does drain OK when you cancel the programme by holding down the stop/start button.
It was bought as a cheap stop gap machine a few years ago, but I’m happy to fix it if I can do it myself and get any parts quickly. Can’t see that it’s worth me paying an engineer to look at it.
