ParticipantHi,
Our Beko dishwasher DWD5411 swithches on, pump runs but does not fill up with water. I tilted it few times and it worked but it now does not fill up with water at all. There was some stain on the tray where the float switch sits, which I cleaned up. I thought it was an issue with the inlet valve. I tried to replace the inlet valve and noticed new stain on the tray. There are two small bore clear pipes attached to the float switch, one from each side. I switched on the machine and noticed a bit of water actually coming out of the float switch through one of these pipes. I am guessing this is whats tripping the float switch and stopping the inlet valve to let water in to prevent flooding.
Can anyone help me to understand why this is happening and what needs fixing please?
Thank you.

sound like the unit is overflowing
when the water started coming out of the float pipe did you check inside to see if it look very very full ?

Hi Dave,
Thanks very much for the reply.
Little bit of water came out when I started the washer. It’s when the pump initially kicks in to drain whatever is left in the machine from prev run. So not much came out but enough to trip the float switch. It never flooded, which is why I didn’t notice it before (float switch doing its job by the looks of it).
Could it be that the drain pipe or pump is partially bloked?
Thanks.

if its coming down those tubes it most be that full of water its overflowing
the tubes connect to the left and right hand side at the front and are set so if it gets too full it will spill out down these tubes, flood the base, lift the float, which starts the pump and stops the machine
if you reset the programme to the beginning ( press and hold start button to cancel programme) the first thing the machine does is start the pump. you can then see if it pumps out at a reasonable rate
and yes could be a blocked pump causing this but it could be in the pump inlet so check that first

Hi Dave,
I checked everything today and found no blockage or leak from anywhere. But it still would not fill with water. I got fedup and chaged the inlet valve anyway. All seems to be working fine now. I am guessing when I tilted/rocked the machine water must have gone somewhere where it shouldn’t have and came out via the float switch. I tried to run cycle and so far so good. Fingers crossed it was the inlet valve only.
Thank you for taking the time to reply, which was much appreciated.
