Hi
My Fridge freezer (about 4 years old)is broken.
We have a contract with British Gas and they’re supposed to fix things when they get broken.
However they say the fridge is unfixable because the part required is not available. are they right or are they spinning me a yarn?
The part is called something like a “baffle switch” not sure what that means as i am not very technical. But the freezer bit seems to be working but the fridge has been at room temp for about a week now and we’re having to throw food away.
Does anyone know where we can get this part, or do we nee to get a new FF?
interestingly, manufacturers are legally bound to supply spare parts for your appliance for 6 years
im sure its available, although its not something ive ever heard of
id be ringing them and questioning as to why the part is no longer available and what theyre going to do to honour your contract with them which, which will state that theyre supposed to keep you with a working appliance
If it is the one that I think it is then yes it is still available,if I remeber rightly this opens a vent at the top of the fridge and allows the air to circulate.also known as a wax valve ?
It was used on the eurolec 9002 ?,If you get a match stick and open the vent slightly you can jam it open with the match to allow cooling into the fridge as a temparary measure.
thanks so much for your replies.
Bryan – where is the vent located (i’m not very good at techie stuff) do i need to unscrew anything to see it?
thanks
