ParticipantThe last guest has some of the right idea but terminology is wrong. Refrigerant can carry oil into the capillary tube through the filter/dryer and block the capillary tube resrtricting the gas flow. The part that he heated with water at the back of the fidge is in fact the dryer. He was lucky to clear the system with this method, but normally requires a new filter/dryer and re gas. It is also quite common for this model to loose a bit of refrigerant over a period of time, and may need to be re gassed. The original fault that Noobi experienced sounds like this was his problem, not the commpressor.

I have also been having similar overheating problems with the temperature of my BEKO fridge freezer with the temperature now constantly over 9 degrees. I am not keen on attempting any DIY remedies so asked an engineer to examine the fridge. The engineer’s assessment was that it was possibly a blockage (but he did not say of what)or a probably the PCB.
I am a bit sceptical about whether it really can be the PCB and was wondering what the real cause could be? Having read about other people’s fridge issues, I was expecting it to be a problem with the compressor or other mechanical part. I am reluctant to pay for a new PCB if it is not really going to solve the problem. Can anyone help?

Model number please Abena ?
Also could you check whether the compressor (motor) is constantly runnning as this gives the best indication 🙂

I think the model number is CGA9756FF. Stupid question but how do I check if the compressor is working (without dismantling anything!)?

You can hear it running, it there is constant noise then it’s running all the time, be careful though, if this is a frost free unit there are fans(s) as well.

Well, there does seem to be a contant motor-type noise, though every few days I notice when the noise seems to cut out, though how often this happens, I don’t know. Also, lately, every now and then the appliance has been making strange loud, intermittent ‘cracking’ or ‘popping’-type noises. I don’t know if this is a symptom of anything?

I think at this stage it may be best to call for pro help to be honest, try Repairs@ for an engineer who can make a diagnosis on this for you 🙂
