Beko Fridge/Freezer thermo problem

Hiya guys

Noobie, and defo not a F/F guru so am looking for some advice and help if pos.

I have a Beko CGA9756FF 11cu ft F/F which is frost free. The freezer is working fine and no problems, however the fridge is stuck at 9 degrees even if i manually set it to lower. I have left it overnight and no joy. I have further turned the appliance off for 30 mins, as stated in manual then turned it on, still no joy 🙁

What do you recommend? Is it an easy repair, if so could a DIY gimp do it (that me by the way).

Any and all advice welcome.

It may have an ice build up in the freezer which effects the air circualtion to the fridge.

You can try switching it off and do a total defrost for 48 hours and see if that helps, other than that it’s an engineer job to diagnose to be honest as it could be one of quite a few things.

Thank you for the super swift reply. If there is no ice (none that i can see) in freezer do you recommend defrost or straight to repairs@?

Try the defrost first as the ice will be hidden behind the rear panel in the freezer 😀

Hi all

same fridge freeze i think Beko fridge top freezer bottom.
Threee shelves in the fridge with salad draws in the bottom of it and four freezer compartments

have the same problem,only i have no manual with it any more..

the freezer is like a super freeze and fridge is fairly warm well warmer than i would like and the thermostat settings dont seem to do a thing..

let me know if this is the same problem and if the defrost thing works

Defrost did not work unfortunately and i have been told that it sounds like a compressor problem. Work = £170. Labour = £65+VAT (which is very good, from my estimates), therefore the part = £100!!!

I can get a similar new fridge for £280 + delivery. Very torn.

So i am looking for a compressor and thinking about doing it my self as i have little to lose unless the part is really that expensive.

1st quote on a compressor = £144.37 +P&P (£5) (WOW) apparently an original part not generic!

So far defo looks like – new fridge here i come.

Unfortunately you cannot fit a compressor without specialist refrigeration equipment which includes air tight brazed or lokring connections, regassing, safe disposal of unused gas etc…

I too have Beko model ca9756ff fridge freezer.
Same problem -18 degrees freezer
15 degrees fridge (useless)
Your problem is not a compressor problem

FACT
If it was, the freezer would not work either
your problem i believe like mine is due to ice building up on the freezer coil.
empty the contents of the freeze
get on all fours and undo 6 screws on the rear of inside of the freezer
& two on the side
then remove the back panel of the inside of the freezer to expose the freezer coil.
u should see an ice build up at the bottom.
I did and simply melted it with hairdryer
As the FF has not detected a poblem under self diagnostics i assume all other components are fine also.
As this is not the most expensive frost free fridge freezer
I believe this manual defrost procedure may have to be done periodically but I am waiting for the results, as all of the above i have done today.
Come tommorrow i will have a better idea if it has worked.

Hi Seanol.

If it’s an air driven fridge then yes, a blockage to the air manifold that carries cold air into the fridge could cause that to happen. If, like any Beko I’ve seen thus far, that it’s a “falling air” type refrigerator then it won’t and, I’ve seen a weak compressor cause this on Beko machines all too often. Normally a fridge freezeer, cheap with only one compressor, feeds the freezer first to take advantage of the coldest part of the cycle and then the gas makes its way up to chill the fridge before going on its merry way.

In the trade Beko compressors are notorious for failure, often at about 18 months and almost any call we got for one (don’t do too many these days) would almost certainly be a compressor failure in 8/10 cases roughly.

I had the exact same problem with that model of fridge. I say HAD, because late last night I found this thread via Google, tried Seanol’s method this morning at 9am. By 9pm the fridge was back at my preferred 3 degrees, rather than the 7 degrees it has been for the last 3 weeks.
I also found that the freezer was far too cold…
When I took the panel off inside the freezer, I found exactly what Seanol said. Ice at the bottom of the coil. I used my wife’s hairdrier, and got rid of every last drop of ice / water from the coil, put it all back together, put the food back, and 12 hours later, all is perfect again.
My hat comes off to Seanol, and all of you for being there. Certainly saved me a few bob!
Incidentally, I had called Beko, and they wanted £45 for the call out with a further £20 per 15 mins. At those rates I’m becoming a fridge engineer!
P.S. Be careful for frostbite! Those coils are BIG TIME COLD!

The ice builds up over time Jim, so keep an eye on things for the next fortnight say. If the ice starts building up again it will be indicative of deeper problems – then I’m afraid you will need the pros.

The trade is desparately short of engineers in all fields, so if you do fancy a career change contact site admin for some pointers.

I have a Beko CGA9756FF with same symptoms and have been following advice contained in the above with no success. A colleague at work suggested that the thermostat can become blocked with a sludge of oil that is mixed with the refrigerant gas in the circuit and that if the thermostat phial at the back of the unit (mine is fitted to the right of the compressor) is immersed in boiling/hot water it would flash off. I was scepticle but had nothing to loose. Tried the procdure last Saturday and unit has been running at 4 degrees for last 6 days. I am keeping a watchful eye on things.
