    Hi there

I have a BEKO GL22APS American Style fridge freezer – the freezer has started to defrost and the fridge isn’t as cool as it used to be.

The compressor kicks in for roughly 45secs before stopping with a noticeable click, it then waits for around 5-6mins before starting over.

I’ve taken the back panel off and the fan next to the condenser is running, and I’ve cleaned it of any fluff/dust build up.

Is this a problem with the compressor, or the fan not running properly to cool the condenser enough, or any issue with the relays etc.?

Any help or advice would be great, I’ve had it for 7 years and this is the first time it’s had an issue.

    Cheers

    Joe

from the sound of it your compressor overload device is tripping

this device measures the current drawn by the compressor and trips if it is too high

can be caused by various things including compressor failure

Thanks for the quick reply – are there any checks that I can do before I get an engineer out or look for parts etc.?

    Cheers

    not really

an engineer would probably plug a starting relay and change a capacitor if its got one. if it does not start then we know its the compressor. An engineer could then remove the parts for use elsewhere. If you did it you would have to pay for the parts on the chance of success

if its the compressor its will be costly
