I’m having problems with ice forming between the three shelves on the back panel inside the fridge. Dropping the thermostat to it’s lowest setting does not clear the ice. I have also checked the door seal, that the drain is clear and the thermostat knob actually turns the thermostat.
With my limited knowledge I think that the problem may be a defective thermostat.
Does anyone have any thoughts or advice please?
    Many thanks,
    Graham

    Hi

Most of these problems are caused by things being pushed too far back on the shelf and then some of the package gets stuck to the frozen back wall and this then slowly over a few weeks grows larger and larger, changing the temperature doesn’t help either.

You would need to turn the fridge off for 24hrs and leave the door open then wipe the back wall dry and this will normally cure the problem.

This will also give you a chance to totally clean all the fridge out of the junk that builds up over months and out of date.

    Hi Bryan,
    Thanks for your advice.
I’ll certainly give that a try, much more sensible than changing the thermostat in the first instance. I will get the fridge turned off over this weekend and report back a little while after, when it is back up and running.

Just reporting back after a thorough clear out, clean and defrost of the fridge. Unfortunately within 24 hours of powering back up the ice had returned to the area of the back panel behind the top shelf. The extent of the ice is slowly increasing downwards but not at a fast rate.
I was considering giving the fridge a few more days to see what happens before perhaps changing the thermostat?

Re: Beko LA87 auto defrost larder fridge

    Hi,
    Just an update.
I changed the thermostat about two weeks ago and the result has not been as positive as I had hoped for. There is still ice forming on the inner back panel and it is extending down about one third from the top.
Since cleaning out the fridge it is now kept relatively empty. I was wondering whether increasing the storage would help, or am I grasping at straws?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Graham

Re: Beko LA87 auto defrost larder fridge

    Hi,
Things have not improved so I called a local engineer who identified that there is a blockage in the gas lines which has resulted in excessive compressor wear. Discussing the solution with the engineer led me to conclude that the cost of parts and fitting would not be worthwhile, even though the fridge is only three and a half years old.
Hope this unfortunate outcome helps if someone else is faced with a similar problem.
I’m off to find a new larder fridge.
    Graham
