ParticipantBEKO OVEN :: BIE23304XPS
Hello,
I’m desperately looking for the bit where the oven selector switch inserts into. Connects to the front panel.
Is that something you can help locate?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

KeymasterIt’s a part of the timer unit, that whole assembly comes as one part.
If I remember I’ll look it up in the morning for you but expect it to be the best part of £100.

knew it was prob part of the timer
had a customer in yesterday, came in asking for a knob but when he showed it to me the stalk of the selector was sticking out of it

ParticipantHi – thanks for looking into it – yes, that’s the correct unit – thanks a million!!
thing is, having to purchase the whole unit just for the knob shaft feels a bit overkill.
Perhaps we can go about it another way.
I do have the broken pieces – the shaft snapped in two courtesy of my adorable son – I tried a melt-the-plastic approach to putting it back together with no luck… perhaps because it is not plastic. It actually carbonised the thing.
Can you recommend an adhesive that will hold the two parts together and that is heat resistant?

KeymasterI doubt any adhesive would hold it, temporarily maybe but not for long.

agree tried with a few things but never as strong as original
you have 3 options
new board
new oven or
try to find some plastic bar and make one ( you have nothing to lose by trying apart from time )Dave

Participantwhat about CT-1. That’s pretty strong, but not sure it’ll take the heat. Any thoughts?

Moderatorsome plastics glue well others dont
ct-1 is just a superglue in essence. for that to work both surfaces have to be clean and flat and more important is the plastic has to ahere well to it
this is info you only get by trail and error
but in the end I think its unlikely to suceed
what you really need is a scrap oven you can take it off but thats rare. have already scanned ebay

Participantthanks for your help – what I’m going to do is drill into one of the halves, fill it with an epoxy glue and insert the shaft into the hole hoping it’ll cure solid enough to hold. After all, it only needs to turn, no massive force or pull is applied. If that doesn’t work, then I’ll have to go for the whole panel. Thanks for the ideas. cheers.
