ParticipantHi all,
I’m hoping that you can help me as I have paid £120 to fix my fridge but it’s just getting worse.
The beko TLDA628 is just over 2 years old. Survived a house move about 1 year ago and been working ok until we starting having a problem where items on some shelves were getting frozen solid. So we called the fridge repair person as the shop and Beko would nothing to do with it. The repair man said the fridge has run out of gas and regassed for £60.
About 3-4 weeks later, the back of the fridge started freezing up badly and never turned itself off. The repairman has since been back and after some tests said he was not sure what the problem was, but changed the thermostat for another £60.
After the 2nd visit, the fridge has been fine until 3-4 weeks later when now the back of the fridge is starting to freeze up again.
We have just tested the door seal which is fine all the way around apart from 4-6 inches along the top which does not grip a receipt well perhaps due to some damage. I have ordered a replacement seal for £20, but worried that a small gap at the top is not the source of the problem and I would have thought that the repair man would have tested this already.
It would be much appreciated if anyone has any advice for us as it feels very expensive spending £120 on repairs to end up with a still broken fridge.
Many thanks.
ps> Since we have had the problems, the fridge has been turned down to 1 and it’s been keeping the fridge seemingly at the right temperature even on the hottest day.

Hi kwatt
It is powered ice I think starts from near the top and not so much at the bottom. I have noticed that the fridge is always on and doesnt turn itself off.

If it’s powdery then it is almost certainly from air ingress from somewhere, most probably the door seal.

Hi
Powder snow or ice on the top of the evaporator will normally be caused by a fan failure or a premature defrost termination where the defrost sensor is placed at the bottom of the evaporator.

Hi
Thank you for your replies.
I am on the fence at this point as I am not sure if the fridge is repairable or whether I need to spend more money to get a new one.
What are your thoughts?
Many thanks

Ok! An update.
I received the replacement seal last week on Weds and put it on and it seemed to improve after that. The fridge was still freezing up a little at the back but the fridge would turn itself off periodically and the ice would defrost. The seal is perfect now I have tested with a receipt.
This evening the fridge has started to frost up again at the back and I have found a frozen lettuce on the middle shelf. The rest of the goods are not really frozen but I can feel that the fridge is running very cold with small bits of ice forming around drink bottles.
If anyone has any thoughts on all of these symptoms put together it would be much appreciated if you can advise us.
Much appreciated.
