ParticipantI have this tumble dryer, I am unable to work out what is causing the stiffness of the drum movement. The owner says it sometimes works and sometimes it takes few goes to get it moving. It’s a year old, used daily, there is slight frayed on the pulley belt by the motor which looks like the pulley and belt need replacing although it seems a bit much when a new belt would do.
When I removed the pulley belt, the drum seems to move more freely but still got some resistance. Is it normal for this or am I looking at new rear bearing or weak capacitor?

Take the drum out and check the front seal – I had one where there was a slight fray in the seal which caused it to bind, also check the front bearing pads as it will bind if they are worn.

Front seal probably the cause. I have had these ‘stick’ to the front of the drum causing the drum to seize and the belt to snap.

Thanks guys,
It was a “trade-in” as the original owner didn’t want to spend much on the tumble dryer and plumped for a little more hard wearing such as White Knight. The owner got really impatient during the run up to Christmas which was why I was asked to supply new dryer instead of repair.
I brought the dryer home and have a look to see if it is worth repairing or scrap it. These tumble dryers don’t worth much selling second hand. Will keep you posted…

Have to say I’m coming round to Beko stuff. Cheap spares and easy to work on

I agree with you there. Fixed the dryer in the end, just like the other two said – worn felt. Bit of a design fault there other than that the front bearings hardly has any wear on it so did not renew those.
The pulley and the belt was a bit of a palaver, very tricky to put the belt on, once its on then you are away. Had to buy circlip pliers, managed without one for years but this time had to use it.
Far too many screws!

Remember to change the pulley first – the replacement is smaller than the one originally fitted. I made the mistake of just trying to replace the belt the first time I came across one and lets just say there was a lot of blood involved…

Glad I had the common sense to replace the pulley first then the belt. No blood spilt. Not The thought of replacing the belt has crossed my mind. It was a right PITA slipping the belt onto the shaft and pulley.
I fail to understand why did Beko did not list replacement belt for this particular area? Nowt wrong with the original pulley, seem such a shame to lob it in the metal bin.
