I am looking for some help to diagnose a freezer fault. This freezer is only 22 month old, and it is kept in a detatched garage. It recently got quite frosted up, but after defrosting it would not run. It would start the fan and compressor, but they stop after about 5 secs. I tried a new controller board, but it made no difference. I can measure the resistance of the NTC sensor, so I assume that is also working. Other than the complete evaporator unit I can’t see what else it could be.
    Any suggestions.
    Thanks

Does compressor motor go off with a distinct click after starting?
If so its likely its done.
Just be aware that some of these products, especially electronically controlled ones run a test sequence after being powered up, where they run fan, compressor, defrost heater etc for a short time, then after 20 mins or so they will run as normal.

Well, you were right! It wasn’t broken at all, I just left it and went back after half an hour and it had started properly.
There ought to be a warning somewhere, in the manual maybe, but no one reads it.
‘This unit does a pre start checkup and can take 20 mins to start after a power down.’
    Thanks for your help.
    😀
