ParticipantDear All,
I returned from a 5 day trip away to find that I’d left the door to my Beko TZDA627 Freezer open.
Now that i’ve cleared up the mess, it would be great to see if I can get it working again.
I can tell you the following information:
This is just an upright freezer only, no fridge or ice making facility.
Unit is approx 8 years old.
It was powered down for over 24 hours once I discovered the problem.
The compressor hums when the unit is powered up, and gets a little warm.
The digital temp display shows the inside temp being +16, which is the ambient temp, which would indicate this is working OK.
The vent inside the unit at the top where the cold air usually comes from is blowing air, but not cold air.
I am pretty handy when it comes to fault finding and repairs, having successfully fixed a couple of washing machine problems thanks to the great advice and info on this site, but I’ve never had to work on a fridge.
I have looked through all the FAQs, and searched, but haven’t found anything relating specifically to this model. If anyone has any pointers as to where it would be worth starting to look, I’d be very grateful. Having read a couple of posts regarding fridges, it sounds that a compressor that hums but isn’t chilling might be a costly repair or replacement freezer, so if i need to buy a new one, i’ve had a good 8 years work from this one!
cheers, Dicky 😀

If you left the door open I suspect it overfrosted in the freezer section. I would imagine if you were to defrost ( which I see you have done) and switch it back on it should work, its not instantaneous & won’t be cold enough to store food until overnight at least i’d imagine.
You should see the temperature display drop after its been running an hour or so.
Check the condenser at back to see if it is it getting warm, all I can think is that the compressor has failed perhaps from running constantly for 5 days trying to get the room it was situated down to freezing point.December 20, 2013 at 7:41 am #406514ELDAR59

it could be as described by seamy, or it could just be that, having had the door left open for days on end, that a 24hr defrost wasn’t sufficient.
id turn it off again, leave the door open and leave off for 48hrs to ensure that the huge build up of ice that would have inevitably have occurred with the door open in the first place, has fully defrosted, before turning back on again.December 20, 2013 at 11:51 am #406515DickyB

Thanks Seamy and Eldar both for this advice. I had left it off with door open for 24 hrs and tried a restart, but still no joy.
When it did restart the 2 digit display read 51, is this an error code? Also when I pushed the fast freeze button to see if this gave any more information on the display, the 51 went and then it changed to Cr then to dE when I pushed the fast freeze button.
If anyone can give some insight into these codes this could be great. I’ll try leaving it off for 48 hours with the door open now and see if this solves anything, as Eldar suggests.Cheers Dicky

Right then, freezer has been off for over 4 days with the door open. When powered up the compressor runs and gets warm and the fan inside runs, but it doesn’t get any colder than the ambient temp, even after leaving it running for over 2 hrs.
Is it worth me getting someone out to look at it bearing in mind it’s 8 years old, or do I just buy a new one?
All thoughts welcome.Merry Christmas to you all. DickyB 😀

Maybe the compressor is running but not pumping. Or out of gas. Either way if this is the case its not worth repairing i’d imagine.
