I have a 6yr old Beko as above. On start up the drum moves a lot and bangs on the side of the casing. The shock absorbers fully compress
and move easily when I push down on the drum. I have assumed the shocks are faulty and removed them. They feel quite stiff when moved by hand but can be moved. My question is should the shock absorbers be very difficult to move if good. If the fault is not with the shocks is there an electrical fault it could be e.g. is there a slow start ramp up on the motor drive to stop over acceleration that could become faulty.
I’d like to know how to check if the shocks are faulty.

    Hi.
Have a go with nothing in it. It should just tumble on the start of a spin. If it goes into a full spin try looking at the back of the motor. Not the side with the belt. You may find the magnet on the back of the motor has come lose.
If not could be a pcb problem or wires to the motor

Just like car shocks, push down on drum and they should’nt bounce. The speed of the motor is controlled by the tachometer generator on the end of the motor. It’s like a dynamo, generates a small electrical current that is measured by the control module. If the motor suddenly breaks into a fast rotation then the problem is associated with that tachometer circuit.

From your description I would think the problem is not the shocks though they are cheap to replace anyway,
