ParticipantI have a Beko washer dryer where the thermal cut out trips everytime the dryer is used (very rarely). Reset it, unit dries the clothes then won’t dry the next time. Have ordered replacement cut out just in case but I doubt that is the cause merely a symptom. Any help gratefully received.

Moderatormore likely the fan sticks and the element overheats

Moderatorwell the only reason for a trip is an air flow problem or faulty stat. since the unit works second time then its unlikely to be a stat problem.
time to have a look at airflowDave

ParticipantThere is some horrible white powder coming out where the air enters the drum. Strip the fan unit down?
thanks DaveApril 4, 2022 at 7:41 pm #481848electrofix
Moderatorwhite powder is aluminium oxide. yes strip and look for anything that stops air flow

ParticipantI tried to split it open, undid the 6 or so T20 torx but it didn’t want to come apart. Saw B&Q are selling it for £130 delivered so didn’t continue for now. May look again in the morning. Thanks again.

Moderatorits a clearance price at B & Q so you might find stock difficult
if you can get one jump at it as it should have 2 year guarentee

ParticipantGot my big pants on today and split the dryer assembly: it was like rats had been nesting and died in there. The fan assembly was solid as if it had sucked in a filter or something. A lot of elbow grease and wd40 its much cleaner. Now I’ve set it to run for 150 mins, with the heating element detached, to hopefully blow out any more rubbish and allow the solvent time to evaporate before adding any heat. Fingers crossed.
