Beko WM 5140 W pump filter issue

Better half has tasked me with cleaning the filter. Simple to do I thought 🙂

Found http://www.beko.co.uk/manuals/WM5140.pdf and looked at the relevant part about loosening the pump plug anti clockwise then pulling it out.

In practice it turns anti clockwise approximately a quarter turn until it meets resistance but it does not pull out :rolls: I’ve even tried persuading it using a pair of grips.

Maybe it should turn more than a quarter turn before it is ready to pull out? Maybe it has not ever been removed and is now so firmly caked internally with calcium deposits that it is stuck good and proper? Your suggestions and advice are welcomed. In passing the machine is otherwise working well. TIA

would like to bet you have hairclips, or bra wires, or lollpop sticks etc caught in the pump

to open filter you have to remove the hose which goes from the tub to the pump. you ill find one of the above in the entrance to the filter unit which will be jamming the filter unit as you try to remove it. if you clear this obstruction it will open.
Do not force it you will break it and require a new pump

I also can’t open the pump filter. How do I access it to remove anything that is blocking opening it?

If you feel competent, :lesson: with power off first of course, you could unscrew the pump mounting screws from front, take off hoses.
Take pump unit from filter noting the position it was mounted.
Remove the debris & put it all back together again.
Run appliance on a rinse to check its working o.k & not leaking.

Thanks for that electrofix. Couldn’t screw the filter out completely so removed unit and cleaned out through inlet connection. Didn’t find the bra wires or hairclip but was £1.29 and a old door key the better off when job completed.
