Beko wm5100w not starting program

Hi, I have this washer and it’s been great.

now, when pressing the start button it begins to fill. Stops then fills again, then just stops. It never progresses.

if I cancel the program holding the start button it drains and goes back to idle.

any ideas ?

Sounds like it’s waiting for the motor to start, which I assume doesn’t happen?

No, no motor noise nothing

I’ve checked all cables are in their correct places.

have you checked the motor brushes ?

Yes it`ll surely be the motor brushes. Well worth repairing this machine and so well worth the effort to have a good look. These simple Beko entry level machines can be very long lasting and reliable.

It was indeed the brushes !!

new ones installed and it’s working like a charm

Great. You are advised to run the brushes in by doing a couple of light loads first so that a “curve” on each brush running face angle beds in properly.
