    Hi there,

I am hoping someone can help by confirming a fault/error code that I have.

I have a problem with my Beko WM5140W which started suddenly. I put it in self-test mode. After turning the selector to ‘Spin’ to toggle through each of the tests, if I press start/pause/cancel for the first time all LEDs flash. If I press it a second time the ‘Prewash’ and ‘Quickwash’ illuminate and nothing happens. I take it this is a fault/error code. However looking at this thread/guide http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/fix- … codes.html I can’t figure out what this means as there is no mention of a ‘Quickwash’ LED, and there are only 4 LEDs on the top row above the buttons.

Can anyone who is knowlegeable confirm that this is indeed (as I suspect) a motor/drive fault? If not what is it?

    Many thanks indeed,

    Niall

When you say it “started suddenly” do you mean it started without button been pushed, or does it go into full spin suddenly on wash?
If the latter most likely P.C.B is faulty, but could be motor tacho or wiring from motor to p.c.b.

    Re: Beko WM5140W Fault/Error Codes

    Hi Seamy,

Many thanks for the reply. Sorry for my poorly formed sentence 😕 What I meant to say is that when it “started suddenly”, I was describing the fault. It happened out-of-the-blue, it was not an intermittent fault: i.e. the machine just stopped one day.

The machine does not spin at all, even on self-test. When toggling through each of the tests, the ‘Prewash’ and ‘Quickwash’ LEDs illuminate after the second press of the ‘start/pause/cancel’ button. All LEDs flash after the first press, and nothing happens on the third or subsequent presses, but the Prewash’ and ‘Quickwash’ LEDs do go out.

I have read that these suffer commonly from brush failure, but I wanted to confirm that the LEDs status does indeed indicate a motor/drive problem before tearing things apart. I think I will have a look later this evening and see what I can find out. Is there any way to check the control easily if I can’t see anything obvious? I take it the motor ‘tacho’ is the speed sensor on the motor?

    Many thanks for your help,

    Niall

    FIXED!

Turns out that those LEDs indicate motor inactivity. Took the motor out and had a look at the brushes – one shot the other low but ok, so replaced them and cleaned the armature.
