Dear all, new account, but old user…In the past you’ve helped me sort out my dishwasher & tumble dryer, so I’ve got high hopes this time too!

I’m having a bit of bother with our washing machine: The programme selector is a dial which has been quite vague in it’s ability to lock into the desired programme for a while, but now seems to be so worn that the machine doesn’t always register that a programme has been selected, so doesn’t want to start. Does it need a new control panel, or is there a separate spindle which the control knob attaches to?

Thanks,
Richard

the Knob ( item 203) links to a plastic shaft (item 1014) which then turns the programme selector on the main board (item 186)

if the knob or the shaft are worn then its a new part if the board has a problem you could try a bit of switch cleaner in the selector if not its a new board

Thanks Dave. It’s sitting there with a load in at the moment, refusing to start, so I’ll get the lid off and have a look at the state of the knob and shaft. (Unplugged first, obvs!)

electrofix Judging by the number of blackened tracks on that end of the PCB it’s fried, and quite honestly we’ve been lucky to get this many washes out of it! The spindle (1014) fits into it’s socket, and also into the selector knob (203) securely enough, so I think they’re ok, or is it worth replacing those as well, while I’m ordering a board?
Thanks for your help!

ignore the blackened tracks the high voltage dc attracts muck. it will just dust off

I would try some switch cleaner in the rotary switch. After all if the board is toast anyway you have nothing to lose

Dave
