Hi My WMA 765S is about 2 years old and has alway had an occasional problem with its timer, towards the end of the program when it claims to have say 10 mins left it will take noticeably longer to finish. I regularily clean the filter to remove the debris generated by two adults and four cats and this seams to have little or no effect on the time needed to completed the cycle. A few days ago it took almost all day to run a single 3 hour program, I checked the drain filter and found some fluff/hair/gunk but not enough to totally block the flow. Has anyone else had a simular problem with this type of machine or is it unique to me ? Does this indicate a faulty drain pump ? From what I can see of the pump impeller without stripping the whole unit from the machine it looks like a magnetic coupled impeller, if I have a dodgy pump is it worth changing the impeller or should I swap out the whole pump ? Sorry its alot of questions in one post but Mrs WetSocks is demanding answers !
Finally, this may be a little of topic but will be relevent if I can’t fix the machine – I have heard from ‘them that know’ that white goods have a longer warrenty the normal goods, upto 5 years in some situations but have been unable to confirm or deny this on any ‘watchdog sites’.

I have also been informed by Mrs Wetsocks that the machine has not been automaticaly draining for some time, when a cycle has finished the dial has to be manually set to drain and run before the door lock will release………

    Yours hopefully,
    WetSocks.

This is a fully digital appliance and is not fitted with a timer. Pump becoming worn or erratic is possibly the most likely candidate. If you flip the impellor round by hand, it should move smoothly, then resist and “ping” each quarter of a revolution. There should be no discernable lateral play on the impellor. If it makes a “burring” noise when running, it’s worn and should be replaced.

Good outline article on pumps HERE.

Beko drain pumps are HERE. I can’t confirm which one fits your model, so if you decide to order, drop an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk to confirm.

Additionally, check the coupling under the sink (if applicable) and the elbow where the drain hose exits the back of the machine – had one with a big lump of fluff in only on Saturday.

Stay safe, power off before investigating.
