ParticipantWe have an BEKO WMA1512W that doesn’t spin properly.
On some of the programmes with a ‘Gentle Spin’, the drum turns ok and the machine will fill, wash, rinse, spin and drain properly. However, if the ‘spin only’ cycles (Settings A, B and C) are selected the drum does not rotate, and after a short pause the rotary programmer/timer simply clicks round and stops.
I have checked to make sure the drain hoses are not blocked and the pump is working properly – selecting the drain cycle (Setting D) pumps the machine out OK. Also I have fitted new motor brushes (the old ones were well worn) but this did not solve the problem.
This seems to leave only the programmer/timer or the Control PCB, (both expensive items) but I do not have a circuit diagram to try and trace the fault.
If anybody has any suggestions for further diagnostics, or experience with this fault, I would be pleased to hear from you.October 17, 2011 at 10:13 pm #361568kwatt

That sounds as if it may be out of balance.

Many thanks for the reply K . . . forgive my ignorance, what type of sensor(s) are there for checking the balance? Also would this still be the case when the machine is empty?
Best regards

Should’nt be the case in empty machine, sensor used is a tacho generator mounted on rear of motor which sends signal back to electronic. Did you clean armature when you replaced carbons? If not clean it with a really fine emery paper, this may solve your problem.

Thank you for your replies.
I did clean the armature when I replaced the brushes, so in view of the intermittent nature of the faults I opted to replace the rotary timer/programmer. It solved the problems and all the wash programmes and spin-only cycles are now OK.
Removing the timer was quite straightforward, although the three large multi-pin connectors were very tight and needed some careful prising to get them off. Also the red and green wires to the timer motor are soldered connections.
As a matter of interest I managed to gather together wiring and circuit diagrams (mainly in Turkish), exploded views, and dismantling instructions.
If anyone is tempted to replace the timer on this (or any other machine) please make sure the elctricity is TURNED OFF and the machine UNPLUGGED, and the door has UNLOCKED before you start any work. Good luck.
