ParticipantHi Folks
Just been to this one to day with a burning rubber smell and found door seal was catching on drum only when machine loaded – ok with no clothes in..
This is a very close fitting seal – checked drum bearing play – seems ok – checked for a broken drum support they seem ok – thought something might have just got trapped down there and got rubber on drum edge so cleaned all that off – still the same problem..
Sometimes had a door seal which has distorted due to grease or ointment but this looks ok..
Before I recomend a door seal change and find it is doing the same thing I just wonder if anyone else come accross this problem on these machines.. Just a bit hesitant about changing door seal as wondered if these drums/ bearings are so flimsy that they have to be perfect otherwise the drum catches the door rubber…
Seem to remeber an model of Indesit that used to do this if there was a slight amount of play in the drum bearing although as I have said I casn’t feel any bearing play on this machine..
Thanks
Any comments appreciated..

Well known problem on guarentee machines. Modified door seal, part number 2812380100, is a lot easier to fit and also helps cure the out of balance system cutting in when seal drags against drum. 🙂

Changed Door Gasket on this today – solved problem – thanks flyman..
Just had probs with the zannusi type retaining spring… never had probs with zannusi m/c’s but had to clamp this spring with molegrips and piece of kitchen towel in the jaws (to prevent damage to door gasket) to enable me to get two hands on the spring to stretch it (the spring is quite strong) otherwise it kept slipping round the seal and couldn’t hold it with one hand..
Anyone else done these and got an easy way to get the spring on incase I get another one of these.. Don’t like the idea of clamping against the door rubber with molegrips incase it damages the rubber but seemed like the only solution and it worked…

Yes they are VERY strong springs 👿 Normally loosen the door lock off then push a 2 foot screwdriver through the hole and trap the spring at the door seal. Use your shoulder against the screwdriver to keep in place and then feed spring around with both hands. Also helps to rub door spring with washing up liquid first.

Thanks flyman
Screwdriver thro hole seems better idea than the molegrips.. thanks for that tip..
Did try the washing up liquid as always get Zanussi springs on that way but wasn’t sure if that was part of problem causing the spring to keep sliping off as the well it fits into doesn’t seem quite as good at securing the spring as zanussi ones but guess it needs it when it comes to slipping the spring over the rubber at full tension..
Thanks for all the help flyman.. 😀

Is this machine is the same build as the ISE5.
If it is then removing the front panel and concrete balance weight only takes five minutes and then seal refitting is a doddle.
