ParticipantPlease can anyone offer any advice?
I have a Beko WME 7247 W which was purchased in March/April 2010 and is out of warranty. For a while now it has been putting holes in our clothes. They are the same size every time and only small.
I have eliminated the cause being zips, bra hooks etc as it happens regardless of anything like this in the wash. I have felt round the drum and cant feel anything wrong. I do not overload the machine at all and use a 600 spin.
So far the holes have been on less robust fabrics.
I am assuming something is stuck in the drum maybe, given that this problem has not always occurred and i am not doing anything differently.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The machine cost £272 2 and 1/2 years ago. It is typically on, on average twice a day.
Desperate please as i cant afford to keep having clothes damaged so need to take action asap.

Also, to add, i use the dark care, mixed wash or synthetic cycles when this happens. All of those programmes take between 3-3.5kg. I have not noticed holes using the cottons programme but that is only used for bedding and towels anyway and as i dont iron these items i am less likely to notice very small holes.

Hi Amy,
It’s a fairly regular thing we see, explained here pretty much…

Is it typical for this to occur for no apparent reason after using the machine in the same way with no problems for a good 2 years? Could something be stuck i cant feel? If so would the cost of getting it taken apart to be looked at not be worth it?

It would be worth disconnecting the power and removing the heater element so that you can have a good look around that area for bra wires, hair grips , Tesco club cards ( other cards are available) all of which can cause this problem, especially on lighter garments that are forced through the drum holes on spin. A word of warning, the elements can be difficult to remove and even harder to put back, so if you are in any doubts call an engineer.
