ParticipantHad a problem with the grill not working and the Grill/TOStat doing strange things. When I turned the control up through the temp markings the neon is on, get to the grill setting the neon goes off and the grill dosent come on. The strange thing is when you turn the control down again the neon stays off until you go back to the off position and turn on again. Fitted a stat but hasn’t cured the fault. The cooker has what I think is called a thermal relay. Could this be the problem. Any help please.

I think you’e right about the thermal relay Goose, I’ve replaced a couple for odd grill faults.

Thanks for that Dave, You wouldn’t have a part number would you. Tried to cross reference against loads of Creada/Hotpoint models but couldn’t find it.

Has this appliance got a microswitch operated by the top oven door?
I seem to remember a similar problem a few years ago where the door switch was faulty. If I remember correctly the door switch converts the top oven to a grill when the door is open and to an oven when the door is closed. Does that make sense?

Sorry, scrub that, I am thinking of a different model.
There is an exploded diagram of this cooker on Connect DVD mediator if it helps to find your part.

Thanks for that lads
Will order the relay and hope for the best and try to break even on the job as I am sure I will never use the statGoose
